CureDuchenne is a nonprofit organization focused on raising awareness and funds to support research and ultimately find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. DMD is a progressive disease of the muscles that affects 1 in every 3,500 boys and over 300,000 boys worldwide. The diagnosis for DMD is usually made around the age of 5, and by 12 years old patients are usually required to use a wheelchair. The majority of DMD patients pass away in their mid 20s. There is no cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which emphasizes the urgency and the relevance of the event. Proceeds from the Getzlaf Golf Shootout will be used to fund research that might lead to a cure.
The event’s sponsors include Patriot Environmental Services, Bauer, CNC Motors, Gateway One Lending, Fullmer Construction, Mark Beamish Waterproofing and The Sports Corporation. For information regarding sponsorship, visit www.getzlafgolf.org.
