<p>I have Original Medicare and Empire.</p>
<p>No one can help me.  I need weekly OT and PT for the rest if my life.</p>
<p>Any help here?</p>

Every time I&#8217;ve choked I&#8217;ve been with a group of people &#8211; I&#8217;m gregarious and love to chat over a meal. And I LOVE great food. But I don&#8217;t go to restaurants at all unless it&#8217;s with someone who knows my issues.</p>
<p>Also, playing with my grandkids on the floor is all fun until I have to get up. They laugh when I&hellip;</p>

I&#8217;m wondering if there is some level of pain that people with OPMD experience that I&#8217;m not aware of. All of my &#8220;Medical Team&#8221; tells me there isn&#8217;t pain associated with OPMD, so I&#8217;ve made a lot&hellip;</p>

For me, it is not choking, but the recent fact that I can no longer feed myself. Being in a restaurant while my wife or caregiver is feeding me gets a lot of looks from people at other tables. I am more concerned about my future with OPMD. One thing that I definitely think about from &#8220;before&#8221; is how I used to actually be able to get up off the ground without assistance. Now that is impossible. I either need the help of a person, a piece of furniture, or some other support. And&hellip;</p>

I’ve also noticed that people seem to compare sprays, neti pots, and rinse bottles a lot for this kind of congestion. <span>One thing I’d add is that saline rinsing can be useful for some people, but the water safety part really matters —&hellip;</span></p>

I calculate roughly where I&#8217;m going to be when stopping for the day and then find a local hotel ahead of time. I call and speak with the desk, letting them know that I need&hellip;</p>

Living with MD requires extra planning, and travel is no exception- it takes many steps, but it can be done! I am visiting Florida, Philadelphia, and New York City with my family this summer.</span></p>

I have SMA, which is sort of a sibling condition to MD. Over the years, my family and I have made numerous modifications to our house to make it more accessible. We also travel regularly. The big things I would recommend are: getting a ceiling or Hoyer lift, getting an accessible bathroom with a roll-in shower, and possibly&hellip;</p>

<p><span>Someone said this to me a long time ago, and I never forgot it. Even before using a wheelchair as a treatment for life with muscular dystrophy, I felt guilty about needing to take a break when fatigue set in. </span></p>
