Headlights for wheelchairs
The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations (RVLR) states that every bike cycling in a public road after dark is required, by law, to have white front and red rear lights.
It baffles me that this law doesn’t apply to wheelchairs. There are plenty of wheelchair users riding around at night in parking lots and crossing the street.
Unfortunately, headlights and blinkers for wheelchairs are an out-of-pocket expense Meaning, they are not covered by insurance.
Do you have headlights on your wheelchair? Do you think the U.S. government should consider our safety more as wheelchair users? Have you ever been injured because a driver didn’t see you? Should the gorvernment cover the expense of headlights for wheelchair users?
