Although I live by the beach, I don’t actually go on the sand or into the water. The closest I’ve gotten to the ocean in years is the Ruby’s restaurant at the end of the pier. Not all of the gravel reaches to the water except for one where, if it’s high tide, I can get to the water’s edge by being carried.

The wheelchairs fit for sand provided by the city are very strenuous to push and not at all supportive.

The cost to buy your own beach wheelchair is around $4,000, which is extremely unaffordable for nearly everyone with a disability.

Do you live near the cost or have vacationed to a beach and used a beach wheelchair? Do you prefer going in the pool rather than the ocean and why?
