Being Called Lucky, Entitled or Privileged
Has anyone called you lucky, entitled or privileged?
I have been called lucky and entitled because I get to sit all day, don’t have to work or because of needing to have my school day modified. To me, I was not lucky to require these accommodations because I’d rather be working, participating in school and being active. But, in hindsight, I realize that I am privileged to have these accommodations accessible to me. Even if I had to fight for them. I’m lucky to be able to live with my parents whom I get along with and to have a wheelchair that supports me and allows me to be independent. I just wish people could see how much I had to and continue to have to fight for these things.
