Have you seen the new season of Queer Eye? This season the guys make over a man in a wheelchair. There has been debate in the disability community about the Season 4 Episode 2 “Disabled, but Not Really.” Do you think they missed an opportunity to shine a light on how strong and resilient the disability community is? Do you believe disability isn’t the problem, it’s how society treats people with disabilities? Are you proud of your identity as a disabled person?

Dani, hope you have read my column, ‘Disabled’ vs. ‘Having a Disability’: Debating the Power of Words. I haven’t seen Queer Eye and will try to look it up but there is no doubt that people with disabilities are resilient and as I’ve written about in other columns, the best at creative living. I don’t think the general population realizes that.
