I am a 55 yr old single widowed Mom of 4 kids, 2 out of the nest, 2 remaining, lol. OPMD has been  my families “curse” for as long as I can remember. My Mom & her ancestors were from the state of New Mexico, originally part of the Spanish Conquest of 1598. OPMD is very common in the state of NM & has been referred to as our “family curse” for as long as I can remember. My Mom had it, her brother & sister had it (2 other siblings did not), many other cousins of her generation had it and now our generation also has been showing signs of it. It doesn’t show signs until you are in your 40’s+. It attacks your eyelids and throat muscles, either one, or both. For me it started with the swallowing issues. Lately I am feeling like my eyelid muscles have changed. Out of nowhere kind of thing and not going away…this is my family curse that I hope I have not carried over to my children~
