Public displays of affection for partner
Have you ever had rude reactions when publicly displaying affection for your able/ disabled partner? Which one of you is most aware of these reactions or stares? Do you both find these situations to be amusing or insulting? Have these reactions and opinions made you fearful that they’ll affect your partner enough to want to leave the relationship?
I often feel people staring whenever my boyfriend and I hold hands or kiss in public. One random woman on Valentine’s Day even exclaimed “Aw, look at her and her Valentine” after my boyfriend kissed me while getting into my van. I doubt she would’ve done this to a completely able-bodied couple. It did make for a pretty amusing memory though.
