Animated Film Helps Explain Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy to Kids
The cartoon duo explains that Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) affects approximately one in 3,500 boys who are usually diagnosed between the ages of one and six. Initial signs of the disease include problems jumping and hopping, and over time, falling frequently and difficulty running and climbing. Some boys may walk on their toes because their Achilles tendons have tightened. The disease is progressive and children with DMD will eventually need a wheelchair and may need help breathing and eating. You can watch the video here.
Did you like this video? Do you think it is a good tool for explaining MD to young children?
