Welcome, Mark! My name is Dani Liptak. I am a forum moderator along with Leah! I was diagnosed with a type of MD called facioscapulohumeral dystrophy at the age of 12. Please feel free to respond to any of the open discussions that we currently have in progress! Let me know if there is a topic that you would like to discuss or if you have any questions in general about the forums. Enjoy the day, and thank you again for joining the Muscular Dystrophy forum.
I was looking through this forum to see if I could find info on how to recover better after work. I can only work 3 days per week because of my MD. So on my recovery days, can I use them better. I currently limit activity and rest.
Hi Mark, thanks for your question! Personally, I would try and get a physical therapist to come work with me on my days off. I would also dedicate the other 2 days to stretching, physical therapy exercises, and maybe some self-care routines. If the indoor pool ever opens up, I will try and get back to “walking” in the pool, and then the hot tub after to ease my muscles Rest and limiting activity is great for conserving energy and preparing for the days you do work. Still, I think it is essential to make sure you take care of your body in other ways.
