Day 29 of 30 Days of MD Topic: Faith and MD This is @alilovely15’s story: My name is Alireza and I’m 29 years old from Urmia, Iran. I’ve been suffering from Becker MD for 11 years. The first symptoms appeared when I was 18. At the beginning we did not have a clear diagnosis. I went to all kinds of doctors trying several rounds of treatment and medication and finally I found out that I have muscular dystrophy. The progress of the disease has been very slow. Eventually it involved most of my muscles. The first couple of years I walked with a cane until I needed some extra help. When the symptoms extended to my hands, I could no longer control the cane and have been using a wheelchair since. I cannot deny the disease has affected my life and dreams. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is to adapt yourself and to continue to smile. I have relied on God during these years and thankfully he has always been a reliable supporter and protector for me. He is and always will be my best companion. We -Shia Muslim people- believe in a man of God known as “Imam Mahdi” (PBUH) and we believe that he is living among us, hearing our voices and helps us in difficult situations. We might see him but do not recognize him. He will emerge one day and will save poor and oppressed people and will fight oppression and injustice.. I hope the doctors can find the definitive cure for this disease as soon as possible. My family has helped me a lot with my tough situation and I am thankful for them. For the last 2 years and a few months I've been in love with a beautiful and kind girl. I graduated from university with a bachelor degree in business management. Currently, my job is producing audio and video content for different pages. Finally, I want to say that there are always difficulties but if you ask those around me, they will say,”Alireza is the happiest and the most inspiring person we know.” I owe this spirit and good mood to Imam Mahdi. #MDAwarenessMonth #MDAwareness #30DaysofMD
