Does your family get along? Are there any relatives that you try to avoid during the holiday get-togethers? How well does your family know your life with Muscular Dystrophy? Have they offered to make their as wheelchair accessible as possible?
I happen to not have a lot of family and the relatives that I do have don’t make an effort to understand my disease or make a get-together easier for me to attend. My cousin even get upset once that my wheelchair was rolling in her carpet. Instead, my family enjoys attending a Friendgiving hosted by some close friends of ours.
