FinancialForce Helps Boost Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Fundraising Efforts

A FinancialForce platform has allowed the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to enhance fundraising efforts while streamlining accounting activities.

Since completing the platform launch and implementing an administrative realignment, the MDA has 40% more time to focus on fundraising strategy, according to a FinancialForce press release. Divisions such as operations, information technology and finance now have more time to figure out new ways to deliver services swiftly, more efficiently, and less expensively.

FinancialForce is a leading professional services automation and customer-centric enterprise research planning (ERP) cloud company. ERP is a business process management software that allows the use of integrated applications to manage business and automate various back-office functions.

“Muscular Dystrophy Association had a unique opportunity to use FinancialForce ERP to reengineer the front office capture process and centralize procurement, payables and accounting in our new Chicago Service Center,” said Michael Kennedy, the MDA’s chief financial officer.

“The centralization of transaction processing has saved significant costs, and the centralization of transaction processing has saved significant costs, and the centralization of performance data capture has given us new insights into optimizing fundraising and other efforts related to our core mission.”

In other MDA news, CITGO Petroleum Corporation has raised more than $2.2 million to date for those living with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular disorders. Recent efforts have included golf events and a St. Patrick’s Day program. Upcoming events include a river cruise, a bowling event and more golf outings.

“When this relationship began there was only one treatment for muscular dystrophy and none for ALS,” Adam Cotumaccio, MDA’s executive vice president, chief impact and philanthropy officer, said in a press release. “Today there are breakthrough treatments for many of the 43 neuromuscular diseases we support, including ALS, and world-class multidisciplinary care through our nationwide  network that is enhancing and extending the lives of people living with these devastating diseases.”

In particular, CITGO continues to support the MDA’s research grants, resource center, Summer Camp, and Care Center network, which includes top medical institutions nationwide.
