Inaccessibility at hospitals and doctor’s offices
Since my mom and I both use mobility aids, we often struggle maneuvering in doctor’s offices. Many doctor’s offices and waiting rooms are only equipped for one wheelchair user. I find this very inconvenient seeing as though a single doctor has numerous patients with disabilities.
Sometimes my mom has to leave her scooter in the hall outside the office or the exam room. It can be a challenge to even fit me, my mom and my dad into a single elevator.
Are there other things that you find inconvenient in most hospitals? Maybe you find doorways to right for your wheelchair or walker? Do you have someone come with you to the appointment to open doors for you?
