What to do when kids ask questions
For the longest time I didn’t know how to answer kids when they asked me why I need my wheelchair. I’d usually say something like “It helps me get around”.
Kids don’t know what cells are and how they function. I knew if I gave them a complex answer that I’d end up getting a lot of “why” questions.
One day I suddenly came up with the idea to say that I was a mermaid. I’ve always had a fascination with mermaids so it fit perfectly.
How do you explain your disease to children in a simple way? Do you think it’s important to teach children about your disease? Do questions from children make you uncomfortable or do you enjoy them?
