Accessibility Issues at Thrift Stores
Do you like to thrift and visit secondhand or vintage stores?
One thing I notice about the majority of thrift stores, consignment stores, and vintage shops is that they often lack accessibility. When it’s an antique shop or vintage store, a lot of the establishments are too old and have a step leading into them without a ramp, or the inside of the store is very small and tight.
In many Goodwills, their aisles are too cramped with stuff to allow a wheelchair to drive through.
The only stores that I’ve gone to that are spacious enough for me and accessible are two that are local to me, thankfully. One is a Savers and the other is called Crossroads, which is a buy and sell consignment shop.
What are your experiences?
