  Being called “lucky”

  Have you ever been told you were “lucky” for not having the same responsibilities as the typical able-bodied person because of your disease? How did this make you feel and what was your response to this type of comment?

  I used to be told by my friends and classmates that I was “lucky” any time I disclosed that my attendance at school was shortened because of my low energy. I was always offended by this comment because I longed to go to school for the regular seven hours just like everyone else.
