• Child onset of MD

Although everyone with MD has differences in disease progression, intensity of weakness and onset, there are still defining symptoms to look out for in your child.

Children with possible onset will usually show signs of decreased muscle tone. This can present itself in many ways including an odd gate, inability to walk, stand, sit up, roll over or even suck on a bottle. You may notice your child falling often and a weakened immune system. Some children may have difficulty meeting motor milestones or not meet them at all.

Does you child present any of these symptoms? Have you sought out answers from doctors? Does your son or daughter participate in anything requiring physical activity but you’ve noticed them getting tired easily? Are these symptoms putting strain on your family? Have your family and friends been supportive through this hard time?
