Have you ever gone through a DUI check point? Have you ever been asked to do a sobriety test? Did you explain to the officers about your muscular dystrophy? Where you exempt from the sobriety test?
When I was in college and even recently I have experienced a DUI checkpoint. Although I do not drink, I still worry that if I am asked to perform any kind of test to prove my sobriety I won’t be able to. Whether it is a breathalyzer or walking. I can’t hold a breathalyzer with my lips and I can not walk with one foot in front of the other with out assistance, but I can still drive. I worry that the officers won’t understand that and will think maybe I am faking it. This has never happened but once and the police officer was very nice. It is still a fear of mine though.
