Have you found anything in particular that relieves the spasms? Medicine? Vitamins? Pool exercises? More rest?

How did you feel when your doctor said that to you? I would think about that for a long time, probably go through many emotions, and have to talk to a professional about how I was feeling. But, incredibly, people do not know the power of their words. You were trying to get help with something, and instead, they say you are lazy when you have a…[Read more]

Hey, Ralph! I hope all is well. Have you invested in a human lift, or have the falls lessened? I hope the latter!

I think it is best if I don’t snap out of it right away and sit with it (pun intended). I believe nowadays in feeling what you feel in the moment but never letting it linger too long. “This too shall pass” is a motto I am trying to adopt.

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Delta, United, Southwest, and 18 other airlines no longer require passengers to wear masks on planes. Were you looking forward to traveling more but are now more worried about catching Covid? Do you think it was too soon, or are you ready to be rid of wearing masks? I can go either way. I have been in a state where…[Read more]

Wow, a fourth shot! I understand because of your condition, but the side effects of the third one were so bad for me! I am glad it didn’t put you out of commission!

I always worry about the bathroom situation at one of my jobs, The building is old, and the accessible stall is not accessible. So I have to go across the street to a bar that opens in the early afternoon with an access le stall. It is a pain, but I do love the job. I just hope someday soon it will be made right.

Danielle "Dani" Liptak started the topic Protein in the forum Diagnosis Information and General Questions 1 week, 3 days ago

There are many forms of protein for human consumption. Protein is found throughout the body—in muscle, bone, skin, hair, and virtually every other body part or tissue. The National Academy of Medicine recommends that adults get a minimum of 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram of body weight per day or just over 7 grams for every 20 p…[Read more]

Hi, Larry. Thanks for the reply. I was wondering about your hand controls. Do you have to take a driving test for them? Are they similar to a joystick-like on a wheelchair or more a push and pull type apparatus?

I understand getting out is difficult and for me going to a place by myself causes me anxiety, but I really would like to try and go…[Read more]

I have dropped my phone many times and even ran it over with my power chair, but the Otterbox has protected it. However, when it does fall on the ground because my phone is heavy, it can be challenging to use the grabber to pick it up, sometimes, it falls behind the bed, and I have to wait for someone to come by and pick it up for me. Also, I…[Read more]

Thank you for replying! Yes, reminding ourselves that we can’t control this disease but maybe control our responses to it. I sometimes wonder if I expect too much from able-bodied people in my life by wanting to join them in activities. A close group of friends went to an adventure camp for one of their birthdays, but I wasn’t invited, and I am…[Read more]

I had no idea that he had muscular dystrophy! I wonder if he kept it more private for fear of not being included in Hollywood? Or if that is why his voice sounded like that? (if it affects voice or strength of the voice) Thanks for sharing this.

If your muscular dystrophy affects the strength of your voice, or like me, FSHD affects my facial muscles, do you worry people will not understand you when they ask questions? Do you disclose this information before the interview, or do you go in and do your best.

I don’t normally listen to myself talk on the phone or in videos. But, I saw a…[Read more]

Sometimes after a fall, I get down and stay down. I am usually upset with myself or the muscular dystrophy. I try to keep negative self-talk to a minimum, but anxiety can sometimes take over.

After you fall, how do you make yourself feel better or not get into a sad state of mind? Do you allow yourself to feel bad for a little and then force…[Read more]

I’ve always used Old Spice because that’s what my dad used and I would end up taking his from him, haha.

I’ve tried the more “organic” deodorants but I had irritation and it got expensive so I switched back to Old Spice. I guess if it isn’t broke don’t fix it!

Have you ever had to use it, and what was the situation? There are times when I have wondered if I need something, but usually, I am with friends or family. I have a taser in my amazon shopping cart, haha. People need to check with their state’s laws to see what they can carry for protection.

What are your Vitamin D pills like, some people with MD have a hard time swallowing? I have heard of some patches, liquids, and chewable tablets. Have you tried any of these or prefer one over the other?
