Monday Shoutout: Magic Wheelchair
Shout out to Magic Wheelchair! @magicwheelchair is a non-profit organization that builds epic costumes for kids in wheelchairs at no cost to their families. Their mission is to bring communities together to create unforgettable moments to children around the world by transforming their wheelchairs into something magical.
Ryan Weimer, the founder, has five children including his son, Keaton, who was diagnosed with SMA. On Halloween, 2008, when Keaton received his first wheelchair, he wanted to be a pirate. Ryan decided Keaton needed a pirate ship and went on to build one around his wheelchair. Keaton loved it!
That’s how it all started. Now, Magic Wheelchair makes personalized costumes for kids across the United States.
