Shout out to Miss Wheelchair America!
Miss Wheelchair America’s mission is to provide a platform for women wheelchair users to advocate for the more than 64 million Americans living with disabilities. Unlike traditional beauty pageants, Ms. Wheelchair America is not a contest to select the most attractive individual. It’s instead based on advocacy, achievement, communication and presentation. Judges select the most accomplished and articulate contestant to be a spokesperson for persons with disabilities.
Ms. Wheelchair America has many duties including promoting awareness, eliminating architecture and attitudinal barriers, informing the able-bodied public about the achievements of millions of people with disabilities and assisting with the establishment of programs across the nation.
