Swallowing and speech issues
Many neuromuscular diseases result in changes to the musculature that helps us speak and swallow. Some peoples muscles of the face and mouth are affected by muscular dystrophy. Have you noticed any changes in swallowing? Have you been to a specialist that might help with general strategies for improving safety of swallowing? Have you ever visited a speech-language pathologist? Have you noticed any changes in speech and voice since your MD diagnoses? Have you tried any of the options available for improving communication and/or the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)?
