  • What to Do When a Beanie and Scarf Doesn’t Keep You Warm in the Winter

Cold temperatures can be dangerous for those of us who use wheelchairs. Because we are sitting still for prolonged periods of time, our bodies don’t generate the normal body heat from movement and exertion. This is why it’s so important to dress warmly in the winter.

Sometimes, a beanie and scarf just don’t cut it when the temperatures drop.

I decided to finally invest in some base layers this fall. They add a thin extra layer of clothing to keep my body heat close. Weatherproof jackets are a must for people who live where it snows and rains frequently. Some companies even make electric-heated socks, clothing, and outerwear. I even saw a disabled content creator who bought dancers boots that are typically worn to keep dancers’ feet warm before a performance.

What are some tricks and products you use to keep yourself warm and toasty during the colder months?
