Jiffy Lube Launches 8th Annual ‘Muscle Up!’ Campaign for MDA Summer Camp

Jiffy Lube has launched its 8th annual Muscle Up! campaign, which supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) Summer Camp program as well as research and family services.
Throughout August, Jiffy Lube patrons at participating service centers nationwide are encouraged to donate at least $3 to the MDA in exchange for a Muscle Up! coupon book. Valued at more than $100, the book offers coupons for use at Jiffy Lube and other national retailers, including Office Depot, Fuddruckers and Men’s Wearhouse. Supporters also may make a donation online.
“Jiffy Lube and its franchisees are committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and operate,” Sara Smith, marketing director for Jiffy Lube International, said a press release. “We take pride in our long-standing relationship with MDA. The Muscle Up! campaign enables us to come together with our valued customers to support those living with muscle disease.”
Last year’s campaign raised $600,000 for the MDA, bringing the total to date to more than $6.5 million.
MDA’s camp program allows children with neuromuscular disease, ages 8 to 17, to join summer camps across the U.S. without any cost to their families. During their stay, the campers take part in activities from swimming and zip-lining to horseback riding and dancing. The children have the opportunity to make friends and learn key life skills.
The camps are supported by health professionals and trained camp volunteers.

“We are very proud of our partnership with Jiffy Lube as it makes it possible for MDA to continue our work to transform the lives of children and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related neuromuscular diseases,” said Lynn O’Connor Vos, MDA president and CEO.
“The impact of this funding is clear when you see kids learning vital life skills, gaining independence and confidence, and making life-long friendships at an MDA Summer Camp especially for their needs. We are thankful for the unwavering support of everyone at Jiffy Lube including the franchisees, service center employees, and customers,” O’Connor Vos added.
Since its inception, the MDA has committed more than $1 billion to advance the discovery of muscular dystrophy treatments and cures. It supports more than 170 research projects throughout the world, and has a nationwide network of some 150 MDA Care Centers for medical treatment. In addition, it offers community education and other resources to patients and families.
