MDA Shamrocks Fundraiser Now Up and Running at Shops Across US

Tens of thousands of businesses across the United States are taking part in this year’s 35th annual Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Shamrocks campaign, which aims to raise funds for research and support programs to help people with muscular dystrophy.
The MDA Shamrocks campaign is the country’s largest St. Patrick’s Day fundraising initiative of its kind, and will run through the end of March. The paper shamrocks can be purchased by customers at t check-out for a $1, $5 or a larger contribution.
“It’s remarkable to think that paper Shamrocks bought and signed by customers across the country can make such a tremendous difference in finding treatments and cures for MDA families affected by a neuromuscular disease,” Karen Lewis Alexander, MDA executive vice president and chief revenue officer, said in a recent press release. “We can’t thank our retail partners and their employees enough for participating in this year’s Shamrocks campaign and making vital donations possible to help provide the families we serve with access to top clinical care, life-changing summer camps, essential support programs, groundbreaking research and much more.”
More than 25,000 retail locations have kicked off their 2017 Shamrocks campaigns, including Lowe’s Home Improvement,  Albertsons companies, Bojangles’ restaurants, CITGO Petroleum Corporation and its marketers, divisions of the Kroger Company.
Buy a shamrock at a participating store near you and help make this the best year yet, the MDA asks of the public. Costumers can sign their shamrock, which is then displayed at each retail store, showing support for MDA families in each community.
Since its launch 35 years ago, the MDA has raised over $300 million through its Shamrocks initiative. Money raised is used to support MDA’s mission of continuing research into neuromuscular diseases and their treatments, and to providing care for children and adults.
