This video from the World Duchenne Awareness Day shares some of the early symptoms of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It’s estimated that one in 3500 boys will be born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy but most won’t present any symptoms of the disease until they are two or three years old. But the earlier Duchenne MD can be diagnosed, the earlier treatment can begin.
The video show boys who have Duchenne MD exhibiting some of the common signs and symptoms of the disease, including difficulty getting up off the floor, delayed speech, enlarged calf muscles, a waddling gait and difficulties in other movements such as running, crawling, and climbing.
