Caring for People With Congenital Muscular Dystrophy

In this video from Muscular Dystrophy UK, Dr. Ros Quinlivan from the Queen’s Square Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases in London talks about healthcare for people living with congenital muscular dystrophy.

Dr. Quinlivan explains that CMD covers a wide range of neuromuscular diseases where symptoms present at birth or in early childhood. Children who have congenital MD will often have other complications as well as muscle involvement, including difficulties swallowing and breathing and recurring chest infections. This means they’ll need constant monitoring.

The care for children living with CMD is complex and involves many different areas of health and social care to manage their everyday needs.
