Getzlaf is the captain of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League. The two-day charity golf event will bring together athletes, celebrities and community leaders, all teaming up in support of CureDuchenne.
The event kicks off with an MVP Party at Time Nightclub in Costa Mesa, California, on Sept. 7. On Saturday morning, the event moves to the Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Port, for the golf tournament. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the day will include live and silent auctions.
“Each year as we take to the course for our annual shootout, I am humbled by the amount of support we receive from a variety of people and organizations,” Getzlaf said in a press release. “It is important that we continue to fight for these children’s lives and every registration, donation and sponsorship makes a difference in saving those affected by Duchenne. Together, we continue to fight for a cure”
Current and former Ducks teammates, coaches and other members of the community will join the fun as fifth players in each foursome to help raise additional money for CureDuchenne.
The Shootout includes the opportunity to enter a million-dollar hole-in-one contest, and other hole-in-one possibilities feature luxurious cars and other prizes, including massage therapists, Jumbo Jenga, Anaheim Ducks Power Players with T-shirt launchers, and clothing. Food and beverages will be available for golfers.
CureDuchenne is a non-profit organization, meaning it relies on donations to advance research of DMD. Events like this are important to catalyze action and awareness for the condition, not only among the general public, but also among influential people who can contribute significant amounts for research.
MVP Foursome teams for the event start at $5,000, including a golf foursome (one athlete/celebrity as fifth golfer), tickets to the MVP party, tee box sign with logo displayed and other benefits.
From July 31, golf foursome teams can sign up for $3,500, including tickets to the MVP party but excluding participation from a fifth celebrity player.
If participants wish to attend the MVP party only, a VIP table can be booked for $1,000, including all-access pass to the party, one table for seven guests, dinner, hosted bar and a bottle of champagne. An MVP party access pass starts at $100, including one pass for the MVP Party, dinner and hosted bar.
