Oscars Finally Recognizes the Disability Community
Even though there were many cringe-worthy aspects from last night’s Oscar Awards, there was one incredible and profound moment that won over my heart-the Best Picture award being given to the movie “CODA.”
Finally, the Academy Awards are taking notice of movies representing the disability community and the lives of the members within it.
Although I am not a part of the deaf or hard-of-hearing community, ASL (American Sign Language) has played a part in my life since I was diagnosed with Autism as a little kid. Therapists told my parents there was a chance I may never talk so, the next best option was ASL.
How did it make you feel to see “CODA” win? Have you watched this movie on AppleTV+?
