• Receiving Proper Care Amid Omicron Surge

Have you had to visit the Emergency Room lately? If so, did you feel like you received the necessary help amid the surge of Omicron cases?

I went to the ER last week because of a bad asthma flare. I knew I didn’t have Covid and tested negative. The ER staff kept me outside of the hospital to avoid any contact with Covid patients but they had multiple outside heaters going and gave me warmed blankets to keep my body temperature up. Even though I was there for about five hours, the staff did a good job to get me some medication to ease my cough and chest tightness. I felt very well cared for.

I don’t think I would dare go to the ER in North Carolina because I have heard such poor things about it. One day I had the worst ear pain and eye pain. By the time I got an appointment, my throat was hurting. Thankfully, it wasn’t covid, but I did have a double ear and eye infection. My appointment was inside a Walgreens with the same nurse practitioner from my primary care physician’s office. I felt safer there than in an ER, I think. I am thankful that my medical practice can go there instead of the ER.
