Seeking Advice for Moving Out of My Parents House
What is something you wish you had known about living independently as someone with a disability?
My boyfriend and I constantly talk about moving in together one day but I realize that not having 24/7 care from my parents and no longer living under their roof would be a big adjustment. I don’t know whether my SSI income would increase or decrease once my boyfriend and are living together or how to go about getting a caregiver. I could use any advice you may have.

I find this to be an interesting topic. As much as I want to be independent whenever I get very ill it is my parents who have cared for me and I cannot imagine going through it alone. If I could guarantee some kind of care or assistance like I have with my parents I would feel more confident in my decisions to leave the comfort of my very accessible house! This includes the bathroom, kitchen, washer dryer, and area for my 8 year old cat. What are things you need to live independently?
