• Wheelchair seating in movie theatres

Does your local movie theatre offer spaces to park your wheelchair and sit close to your friends or family? Do you prefer to sit in your wheelchair or in the theatre chairs?

There’s only one theatre in my local area not only has good handicap seating but also has comfortable lounge seats for me to transfer into. Another kind of movie theatre seats are hard on my back and don’t allow me to put my legs up. These days I always reserve my seats because I don’t want someone to take them beforehand.

I haven’t been to a movie in many months since I hurt my shoulder. Most regular seating is useless. The bottom of the seats start to pop up as I turn to get my left shoulder on to lift. At this point I’m probably ready to try the newer recliner seat theaters. Or use a wheelchair. Read my next column due out 12/5. It’s about my first wheelchair use ever back in October for a football game. I’ll probably look to buy a chair soon to keep in my car.
