Short Bio |
I found out in my mid forties that something was wrong and I was loosing strength and coordination. After many years I was diagnosed and it was confirmed through genetic testing that I have Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy type 2. I had to retire on disability at 55 and have been active in a power chair since 2008. My greatest regret is that I didn’t know about it until I had kids and I have passed this disease on to them and my grandchildren. I am hopeful that genetic research will yield some treatment and eventually a cure before they begin to show symptoms.

How long have you or the person that you are caring for had MD? |
By definition, I have had it since birth. I was diagnosed and confirmed by genetic testing in 2005.
