PPMD’s ‘Run For Our Sons’ Fundraising Events Can Use Your Help
by |
Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD) is promoting a series of running events this year to raise money for research to help end Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
The next Run For Our Sons event will be an official charity partner of the Rock n’ Roll Raleigh Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K on April 1-2 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
You can register for the Run For Our Sons team at any Rock n’ Roll race in the U.S. and receive guaranteed entry – even if the race has sold out. You’ll also receive other team perks.
There are already some teams being formed in Ohio, Baltimore, Seattle and Savannah, but check out other races around the country and sign up for the one that suits you best. If there’s a race in your area that’s not on the calendar and you’d like to put together a team, you can email Danielle Garrigan.
PPMD has a new policy that went into effect this year regarding the application of grassroots fundraising dollars to Run For Our Sons fundraising minimums. The goal is to make sure the maximum amount of money is going to fund PPMD’s mission.
Let PPMD know about your fundraising ideas or join one of the initiatives suggested by the organization to help this mission.
Other marathons and running events collaborating with PPMD include the Walt Disney series:
- The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend:Â One of the first events of the year that raised a total of $445,000 by 160-plus runners. This marathon raised the most money of any Run for Our Sons team in history.
- The Star Wars Half Marathon – The Light Side at Disneyland:Â The January races raised a total of more than half a million dollars to help fight DMD.
- The Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is scheduled for Sept. 1-3.
Other big upcoming marathons include the Chevron Houston Marathon next January and the TCS New York City Marathon on Nov. 5, where Run For Our Sons spots are still available and you and a guest will receive guaranteed entry into the race. You’ll have your own personal fundraising page and ongoing fundraising support, tips and more.
