The Boston Red Sox Surprise a Young Boy With Muscular Dystrophy

The Boston Red Sox teamed up with the Make-a-Wish-Foundation to surprise eight-year-old Thomas Hastings with a replica baseball field in his backyard.

According to a report on bleacherreport.com, Thomas, who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as an infant, wanted a ballpark in his garden, so his favorite team worked with Make-a-Wish Connecticut to design a scaled-down version of the world famous Fenway Park just for the youngster.

Head groundkeeper for the Red Sox, David Mellor, was thrilled to get involved with the project, as was the community in Windsor, many of whom pitched in to complete the project in just 37 days.
